Bulk deleting posts: the questions people actually ask
Nineteen answers, including the ones that are No. If a tool cannot do something, you should find that out here rather than after you installed it.

The short answer
wyper Social Cleanup bulk-deletes posts, replies, comments, likes and reposts on X and Instagram, and manages follows, without any account authorisation: it works in the tab you already have open. It has no date filter, no export and no unattended scheduling, and deletion is permanent.
Can wyper bulk delete my posts on X?
Yes. It removes posts, replies, comments, likes and reposts, and it also handles follows: unfollow everyone, unfollow only people who do not follow you back, or remove followers. It works on X/Twitter and on Instagram. You pick the category, start the run, and it works through the list in the tab you have open.
Can I delete posts, replies, likes and reposts separately?
Yes, they are separate categories and you choose which one runs. That matters more than it sounds: deleting a post does not remove the replies you wrote elsewhere, and it does not touch your likes. If you want a timeline that is genuinely empty, each category needs its own pass.
Do my posts get uploaded to a server?
No. The deletion happens inside your own logged-in browser session, so posts never leave your device. Two things do go out: a licence check, which sends your key and an anonymous install ID, and, only if you click publish, a cleanup receipt that contains counts and no content.
What access does wyper need to my X account?
None. There is no sign-in, no password, no API key and no OAuth authorisation. The extension asks for exactly two browser permissions, storage and activeTab, and acts in the tab you already have open, as you. Nothing is granted, so nothing needs revoking afterwards.
Can I delete only posts from a date range, or older than a year?
No. wyper has no date filter and no date range, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Filtering is by category and by keyword, @name or #tag, with an option to invert the match. If a cutoff date is the core of your job, a tool built around date filters will serve you better.
Can I delete posts containing a specific word?
Yes. Enter a keyword, an @name or a #tag, and only matching items are removed. Several terms can be comma-separated. The invert option flips it: everything that does NOT contain the term gets deleted, which is the practical way to keep a small set and clear the rest.
Why do some tools only delete my newest posts?
Because X keeps roughly your last 3,200 posts readily accessible, and anything older sits outside that window. Some services get past it by having you download your X archive and upload it to them. wyper has no archive import: it works with what your profile serves in the browser, and we have not measured where that ceiling sits in practice.
Can I protect pinned or important posts?
Partly, through the keyword filter rather than a per-post exclusion list. If the posts you want to keep share a word, a hashtag or an @name, the invert option deletes everything else and leaves them. There is no checkbox to spare individual posts, so for a mixed timeline, run a narrow keyword pass rather than a broad one.
Does deleting all my posts delete my account?
No. Removing posts leaves the account, the handle, the followers and the direct messages untouched. Deactivating an account is a separate action you take in X's own settings, and it does not reliably erase the posts either, since copies and search caches can persist.
Can I back up or export my posts before deleting?
Not with wyper: there is no export and no archive download built in. If you want a copy, request your data archive from X first, in the platform's own settings, and wait until it arrives before you start deleting. Deletion is permanent and we cannot restore anything.
Does my browser have to stay open while it runs?
Yes, and that is the direct consequence of the design. A service can only work while you are away if it holds an authorisation to act on your account, and runs on its own servers. wyper holds nothing, so no tab means no run. If unattended cleanup is what you need, that requires giving a service standing access to your account.
How many items can I delete per day?
The free tier covers 50 removals a day, counted across all categories together, and Pro removes that limit. Separately, X itself throttles how much can be removed in a period, which applies to every tool including ours. A run that slows down or stops is usually the platform's limit rather than a broken extension.
It says items were deleted but my profile counter has not changed. What now?
Profile counters on X update with a delay, so a stale number is normal for a while and does not mean the run failed. Reload your profile after a few minutes. If you want more than a counter, Pro produces a receipt of the run with counts only and no content, plus a shareable link.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome, and the Chromium-based browsers that install from the Chrome Web Store, which includes Edge and Brave. There is no Firefox or Safari version. The Fact-Check product additionally exists as a web app that runs in any modern browser.
What is the difference between free and Pro?
Free gives 50 removals a day, ongoing, with the filters included. Pro removes the daily limit and adds the deletion receipt. One key unlocks Pro in both products, Social Cleanup and Fact-Check, across five device seats. There is also a Day Pass at $3.99 for 24 hours of full access, which is the honest option if you want to clean up once and not hold a subscription.
How do I cancel, and what if I only want to clean up once?
A subscription is cancelled in the billing portal linked from your receipt email, and it then runs to the end of the paid period. If a single cleanup is all you need, the Day Pass exists precisely so you do not have to subscribe and remember to cancel: it expires by itself after 24 hours.
I paid but I am still on the free tier. What now?
Your key arrives by email immediately after payment. Paste it into the extension's licence field and press save, then reload the X or Instagram tab so the extension picks up the new state. If the key does not arrive, write to support@wyper.io with the email address you paid with and we will resend it.
Is bulk deletion allowed by X and Instagram?
Automated bulk actions run against the terms of service of both platforms, and we say so plainly rather than hiding it in a footnote. That is why the extension defaults to a conservative speed instead of the fastest possible one. The decision, and the risk, stay with you.
Can deletions be undone?
No. Deletion is permanent, on every tool, and neither the platform nor we can restore a removed post. That is why the extension warns before a run starts and why a narrow keyword pass is safer than a broad one when you are unsure about the selection.
