These tools are not built to clean up your past. They are built to populate your future feed. You cannot use a publishing dashboard to bulk-delete five years of old replies on X or thousands of liked photos on Instagram.

Furthermore, these services require standing access to your accounts. To publish a post while you are away from your desk, the tool needs your permission to act on your behalf. This is done through OAuth authorisation. You grant the service a token, which it stores on its own servers. This is standard industry practice for publishing, but it represents a significant security trade-off if your only goal is to delete old content.

For Pro users, the extension produces a deletion receipt when a run finishes. This receipt contains counts only. It never contains the deleted content itself. It provides a shareable proof link showing how many items were removed during the session.

Manual cleanup methods

If you do not want to use an extension, you can clean up your accounts manually. On X, you must navigate to your profile, click the three dots next to a post, and select delete. You must repeat this for every single post or reply.

Instagram provides a slightly better native interface for manual cleanup. In the Instagram mobile app, you can navigate to "Your activity". This section allows you to view and manually select multiple past comments, likes, and posts to delete or archive. It is functional for small batches, but it requires significant manual scrolling and tapping if you have years of active history.
