DeleteTweets is the most-installed tweet deleter in the Chrome Web Store. wyper Social Cleanup is a smaller tool with a different design goal: it never receives access to your account. Here is what each does, taken from the store listings and our own code, with the gaps on both sides named.
DeleteTweets has more installs, a date filter, backup and archive features that wyper does not offer. wyper Social Cleanup runs inside your own logged-in tab with storage and activeTab permissions only, covers Instagram and ChatGPT as well as X, and shows what it will remove before it runs. If you need a date range or an export, choose DeleteTweets. If you want no account handoff and several platforms, choose wyper.
Figures from the Chrome Web Store on 15 September 2026; features from the listings and, for wyper, from the shipped code.

If your task is "remove everything from before 2021", DeleteTweets does it and wyper cannot: wyper has no date filter. If you want a copy of what you deleted, DeleteTweets lists backup and archive features; wyper only gives you a receipt with counts, never the content. And with 20,000 users and 205 ratings it has a track record that a tool with 12 users cannot show, whatever its stars say.
Read its ratings, though. A 3.4 average over 205 reviews means a meaningful share of users hit problems; the recent reviews say which.
wyper is built around one constraint: nothing about your account leaves the browser. It clicks through your own logged-in tab, asks for the storage and activeTab permissions and nothing else, and has no server that could hold your session. If a tool being unable to act without you matters more than convenience, that is the difference.
The second difference is scope. The same extension cleans Instagram (posts, likes, comments, followers in four modes, direct messages) and ChatGPT (conversations, pinned chats skipped). One cleanup habit, three platforms.
Third, control. Runs are paced with a 90-second pause for rate-limit protection, the overlay shows a live counter per category, and on ChatGPT the conversations that will go are marked and numbered before you confirm.
Who needs which: a journalist or job seeker who wants a specific era gone takes DeleteTweets for the date range. Someone who wants to keep an archive takes DeleteTweets. Someone who will not grant a third party access to their account, or who cleans X, Instagram and ChatGPT together, takes wyper. Someone with a handful of posts to remove needs neither and deletes them by hand.
Social Cleanup runs in your own tab, shows what it will remove and pauses for rate limits. Free for 50 removals a day.
